Week 35

Baby E, we had an ultrasound yesterday to get an estimate on your measurements. Mommy and daddy weren't surprised to hear your cute head is in the 90th percentile. You're just like daddy, mommy has to work extra hard in labor :)

Week 34

Good morning love. Hope you slept good last night. Mommy and daddy had an eventful week and a productive one. Daddy set up your crib, mommy was on a mission to clean and organize and we both did your first laundry. We had a big grin on our faces as we folded and put away your tiny outfits. Your room is starting to come together. I love spending time in it dreaming about the day you get to be in my arms. Because of that, I decided to take the rest of the belly shots in your room. We are in the home stretch of this pregnancy.
Also, your first cousin Ivan was born. Mommy is in love with him. He has auntie's lips and moves them just like how she does. Do you look anything like me or is your daddy's genes taking over? :)

Week 33

Little peanut, mommy and daddy were busy this week moving to the other 2 rooms in the house to give you more space. Daddy started and finished painting the nursery in 2 days. We hope you like the colors we chose for you.
Your pokes and kicks feel pretty sharp these days because mommy's amniotic-fluid level has maxed out. There is less fluid to cushion the blows. I will be missing your moves inside my uterus once you are out of my womb.

Week 32

Baby E, you're starting to get ready for your big debut, tipping the scales at almost four pounds and topping out at just about 19 inches. Mommy's body is also prepping for delivery day by flexing its muscles, literally. Her uterus is bunching and hardening periodically. Those are practice contractions known as Braxton Hicks. We can do this as a team.

Week 31

My little munchkin, I can't even begin to express to you the love your aunties have for you and your mommy. They all came together and threw her the cutest baby shower. Auntie Carrie transformed her bungalow to a baby suite and auntie Heidi put together fun games to entertain everyone. We are both so lucky to have the girls in our lives. I can't wait for you to meet them, they're going to show you so much love.
Thank you auntie Heidi, Carrie, Angie, Yami, Mindi, Jen and Sandy for a beautiful day.

Week 30

Baby E, daddy bought a digital SLR camera to help him capture all the brand new moments with you. He is undoubtedly excited about catching every milestone you experience. The camera bag hasn't left your daddy since. Wherever we go, it goes. He's been practicing and getting ready for your first photo shoot.
As for mommy, her belly's increasing size is a definite clue that you are getting bigger every day, also growing is your brain. You are a little genus and can regulate your own body temperature and turn up the heat. You'll also start shedding the downy body hair that's been keeping you warm up till now.

Week 29

My little peanut, you're getting pretty close to your birth length, you still have to chub out a bit. In fact, over the next 11 weeks, you'll more than double — or even come close to tripling — your weight.
I love you more than words can say.

Week 28

Sweet baby, you're settling into the proper position for birth and been busy adding new skills such as blinking to the already impressive tricks like coughing, sucking, hiccuping and taking practice breaths. Your sleep now includes the REM phase. What have you been dreaming about?

Week 27

Sweet baby, I have never been so curious to meet someone my entire life. I dream of the day I get to hold you, kiss your little hands, precious feet and that adorable face.

We are officially in our 3rd trimester. Each day brings us closer to the day we rush to the hospital in panic as you try to make your way to the outside world. We are doing everything we can to be prepared to meet you. Birth classes started on Tuesday for the next 4 weeks. Mommy wasn't taking the breathing exercises so seriously but daddy was quick to remind her she'll be crying later if she doesn't pay attention now :)

Week 26

In preparation of welcoming you in to our lives, daddy and mommy have been gearing up for you baby boy. Daddy assembled your stroller, car seat and pack n' play. Mommy signed up for a baby care class over the weekend with daddy. We also started our registry so we have everything we need by the time we get to see your cute face. Mommy was a bit of a drama queen and had a fainting spell at Baby's R Us but not to worry, we had a nurse on call. There are so many products and styles of products that the choices seem infinite when it comes to baby products. It was overwhelming but with the help of a good friend and research, we got it all down.

How are you enjoying listening to music? I think you like Jack Johnson the most. I can tell by your kicking. I don't blame you :)

I can't say enough how much we're in love with you and we haven't met you yet.

Week 25

Something about knowing that I'm a mother to an unborn child made me feel so special on this Mother's Day. It's the first of many happy mother's days hopefully!

Week 24

Those little ears of yours are getting sharper and can hear very loud sounds, from a yapping dog to a jackhammer. Also by now, that fabulous face is almost full formed, complete with eyelashes, eyebrows and hair. You're gaining steadily at a rate of six ounces per week. Much of that weight comes from accumulating baby fat, as well as from growing organs, bones and muscle. I love you my little munchkin.

Week 23

My little peanut, beginning this week, you start to pack on the pounds which means mama will too. By the month's end, you'll be double the weight you are now though I won't be. Your saggy skin will start to fit your frame as fat deposits fill things out. You're growing so fast and I love feeling those strong kicks all day long.

Week 22

We went on our first flight together this week. You were very good to mommy on the plane and the 2 days she was in MN for work. Daddy was so excited to have us back home and kept kissing my belly because he missed us.

We're so excited to take you on trips when you're little older and show you the world. Us three are going to make a great team :)

Week 21

My munchkin, you've been practicing martial arts in my belly. Your initial fluttering movements are turning into full fledged kicks, nudges and somersaults. You must be proud of your chinese heritage :)

Mommy and daddy went on a Hospital Orientation tour this week to see the room you will be delivered in. Mommy was getting very emotional hearing how you will be placed on her chest for half an hour after delivery for bonding time. I can't wait to feel your heartbeat against mine. I'm all tears at the thought of you and me staring at each other's eyes for the very first time. You're going to make my heart skip a beat and daddy will be there to witness it all.

Week 20

Little peanut, we've hit the halfway mark this week. 20 weeks are behind us and 20 more to look forward to. I love you more than I can say my little banana, that's how big you are right now :)

Week 19

Mama had a very emotional week my sweet little angel. The changes and the pregnancy hormones have been leaving her crying every night. You must have felt my weaknesses and did something very special to bring back big smiles on her face. Just like that, you wiped all those tears with your first kick. Your little feet are kicking mama's tummy so hard that daddy could even see the movements. Every night, mommy and daddy tap the growing belly and get all giddy when you respond with powerful kicks. We keep telling you how much we love you and can't wait to meet you. I'm amazed that you can already recognize my voice.

Week 18

My little munchkin, your uncle Vince brought home a very adorable chug today. It will be your first puppy to play with. You're going to love her cute face. I put her on my belly so you can feel her and make your first connection with her. Hope you liked it.

I've been trying to eat the right things for you. Eating for 2 is fun but could be painful at times. It's challenging not to over indulge in all the bad eats when you send me hunger signals. You've been asking for a lot of nutrition this week. I love how you trust me to give you what you need to keep growing. I will do whatever it takes to get you stronger, bigger and healthier.

I love you more and more each day ...

Sunday, March 13, 2011

Week 17

My sweet little boy - You've been demanding more nourishment, causing an excessive hunger and an increase in mommy's appetite. All resulting in stretch marks around mommy's growing belly.

Sleep tight tonight sweetie.

Sunday, March 6, 2011

Week 16

In the next few weeks, you're going to double your weight and add inches to your length. I'm feeling your growth spurt by my itchy growing belly. My skin is stretching to accommodate you my little boy. I can't wait to see you again on the ultrasound.

Twins!

12.07.2009

The night we bundled up in our ugly Christmas sweaters and roamed PB in celebration of Vince's birthday, I have been engaged for 3 days. I knew in my heart that Heidi will be my maid of honor, that is if she says yes! I wasn't sure if I would pop the question that night but as we were playfully throwing peanuts in our faces, I decided it was the perfect time. I asked, she said yes, we shed few tears and snapped a photo in remembrance of that moment.

02.25.2011

Fast forward 14 months, suddenly my maid of honor got proposed to. Her ring finger is sporting a shiny bling and I'm sporting a baby bump. 13 days later, we gathered to celebrate the engagement and apparently my birthday (love my friends). Few moments before the proposal video started playing, my lovely friend and I found ourselves in the kitchen and she popped the question. I without any hesitation said YES and I'm truly honored to be sharing her special day by her side next March in Vegas. It's going to be fabulous.

It's hard to believe I will be a mommy by the wedding day.

Week 15

Reading about how you're growing each week fascinates me. Your legs are growing longer than your arms now, and you can move all of your joints and limbs. I can't wait to feel that first kick. Although your eyelids are still fused shut, you can sense light. If I shine a flashlight at my tummy, for instance, you'll likely to move away from the beam.

I'm in awe of all these weekly discoveries about you. Keep growing my sweet love.

New Me!

The usual dreaded Social Security line has pushed me so far away from applying for my name change. As my to do list keeps growing in anticipation of baby Ethan's arrival, I wasn't going to let this one "to do" hang on my list any longer. I conquered my fears, gathered my courage and found myself at the Social Security building ready to fight the crowds. But it wasn't like that at all. The line was intimidating but after only one hour of waiting in the lobby, I gave myself a new name.

I officially belong to the "Trang" clan.

Bananas Over You!

Your growing bigger each week making your mommy's body look pregnant. I love it! You're the size of a navel orange, 4.5" long and weight 2 to 3 oz. This week, you're practicing breathing, sucking and swallowing so that when you leave my comfy womb, you'll have the skills to survive. You're still little for me to feel your kicking, curling your toes and moving those little arms and legs.

In 6 months, you're going to get big enough where you would want to come out to join our growing family. Mommy and daddy are going to go bananas over holding you and kissing you endlessly. There is no doubt about that. You will get to wear a gift uncle Vince and auntie Ang bought for you on my birthday. You're going to make a very cute little munchkin.

We love you baby Ethan.

What's in a Name?

Ethan \e-than\ as a boy's name is pronounced EE-than. It is of Hebrew origin, and the meaning of Ethan is "firmness, long-lived, strong, optimistic, solid and enduring". After the Protestant Reformation it was occasionally used as a given name in the English-speaking world, and it became somewhat common in America due to the fame of the American patriot and revolutionary Ethan Allen (1738-1789). It only became popular towards the end of the 20th century. This was the name of the main character in Edith Wharton's novel 'Ethan Frome' (1911).

Ethan has 4 variant forms: Aitan, Eitan, Etan and Ethen.

Baby names that sound like Ethan are Athan, Eidan, Edan and Eton.

Love at First Sight!

The moment I laid my eyes on you, I fell deeply and madly in love. Little did I know walking into my second ultrasound on February 15th, that I will find out little more about you. You surprised us by showing us that you're a BOY!! You were putting a show for your proud mama and I couldn't help but break down to tears at every little thing you did. Drinking, swallowing, yawning, sucking your thumb, turning and flipping in every direction were some of the few.

In hopes of putting morning sickness and nausea behind me as I transition into my second trimester, Huan and I made a commitment to start documenting my growing belly. We've made a trip to Coronado and despite the wind and the rain, we managed to snap few photos.

My due date is 6 months to the day (August 19th).
We love you baby Ethan!!!
